Pairpoint Controlled Bubble Covered Glass Inkwell With Latched Brass Cover

This inkwell is attributed to the Pairpoint or possibly the Mount Washington Glass Company of New Bedford, Massachusetts.  Dating from the end of the 19th Century is has a colorless glass base with uniform bubbles in rows around the piece.  It has a hinged brass lid with a latch to keep the dust out and the ink from evaporating.  It has a spring on the lid hinge which originally would open the lid when the latch was released.  The spring is not functioning so the lid has to be lifted open.  I have not polished the lid but the next owner could do so, if desired. The inkwell has no chips or cracks just some scratches from use on the base as seen in the photos. (07-03-16)
