Fire Department Uniform Buttons, S. Appel Company NY, 3 Brass Buttons Pre 1900, Scarce Manufacturer

Solomon Appel manufactured buttons from 1864 to 1935 and the welded shank was used until the late 1800s. Buttons are about 1” in diameter taken at the back. They need a polish and one is corroded a little. It appears that these buttons are made of a few pieces of brass metal locked together. Shanks are bent over which I have left. The design is classic for F.D. Buttons. Great for the button collector, Firefighting Collector or part of a shadowbox memorial for a firefighter who gave their life so that others might live.
